Let Us Drink. Let Us Live. For We Must Die.
Although the earliest words used to describe it died and faded into darkness, beer persisted as an undeniable force — it has transcended cultures, languages, and civilizations. Beer is arguably the single most celebrated beverage within the entire scope of humanity. Beer’s immortal existence is woven with a rich culture of cobwebs, twists, turns, forgotten practices, and intellectual triumphs. Deadwords offers a deeper context for beer in Orlando, embracing evolving trends while highlighting forgotten recipes and illuminating untravelled paths.
While Orlando may be well known for a lot of things, the craft beer scene hadn't caught up to that of other cities across America just yet. Deadwords had the perfect opportunity to pave the way. The goal was to create a must-visit brewery and own the craft business in the immediate area. One of the main design challenges when tackling the Deadword's branding was how do we create a dynamic, flexible branding experience that can be used across a variety of different beer series packaging and merch while still having a consistent look that feels cohesive and on brand. This wasn't going to be a one and done logo. We needed a variety of secondary and tertiary marks that could be used throughout.
Starting with an initial concept; David, Deadword's owner, love for dead languages and ancient recipes, we created a brand that was mysterious, curious, studied, and adventuresome all while maintaining the clear, helpful, reliableness of modern hospitality.
